Central Coast-based James Spicer enjoys socializing and attending NRL matches (supporting the Bulldogs) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) with housemates at his Unisson shared home. He also enjoys dancing and has a passion for singing and performing. So, when he was looking to book a holiday earlier this year, a four-day cruise from Newcastle to Airlie Beach in Queensland ticked all the boxes. Accompanying James was his Direct Support Professional, Colin.
James and Colin sailed on the P&O cruise ship Pacific Princess, which provided a wide range of activities along with the thrill of sailing along the east coast of Australia, past the Great Barrier Reef with excursions on charted sailing boats at Airlie Beach and shopping at local markets. But the highlight for James was the onboard live music and evening performers, who invited him to perform with them on stage. And, as he’s a very social person, James had made many new acquaintances among staff and fellow holidaymakers, some of whom came to watch him perform.
“Everyone made us feel really welcome,” said Colin, “It’s the biggest holiday James has had. It was a whole new experience and he loved it.”
James gives his cruise holiday the thumbs up, saying it was “beautiful.” In future, he’s looking forward to planning more holidays, perhaps a long-distance train trip on the Indian Pacific or Ghan or going overseas to watch WWE.
