What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing support for Australians with a significant and permanent disability, and their families and carers. The scheme will ensure that Australians with disability will have the necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life.
The NDIS invests in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life, and focuses on building skills and capabilities so they can participate in the community and employment.
How do I know if I’m eligible for the NDIS?
If you’re under 65 and have a permanent disability that stops you from doing everyday things independently, you are most likely eligible for the NDIS. It’s a good idea to read the NDIS Access Checklist to see if you might be eligible.
What type of service does Unisson Disability offer to help me with my support planning?
Unisson Disability provides a service called Support Coordination, where we work alongside you to plan your support. As an NDIS participant, we help you to understand your plan and connect you with the people and supports that will help you live the life you choose.
I haven’t received my NDIS plan yet, do you assist with pre-planning?
If you haven’t received your NDIS funding yet, but have started thinking about your planning meeting with the NDIA, talk to us. We can chat with you about some of the things you might like to think about when working out what supports you need and what goals are important to you. Contact us.
Does Unisson Disability assist with funding management?
No, Unisson Disability doesn’t provide financial planning assistance. However we can connect you with the appropriate services to assist you with this.
Will I be able to have a say in selecting the people that support me?
Yes. We want to make sure the people supporting you are the perfect match for you. Which is why we match our direct support professionals with you based on similar interests. We want you to build genuine and real connections with the people that support you. For individual support packages, we even invite the client to be a part of the interview process.
