🎂 Norma: I’m Free to Be a Cook

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Step aside, celebrity chefs…Norma’s in the kitchen, and she’s not holding back.

With her apron on and a cheeky grin at the ready, Norma runs the show like a seasoned pro. She channels a bit of Colin Fassnidge energy… sharp, bold, and absolutely in control. No undercooked pasta or burnt bikkies on her watch. If you’re not stirring fast enough, expect a raised eyebrow and a cooking tip (or ten).

“I feel good when I’m in charge,” she laughs. “Especially when I’m being filmed!”

For the past nine years, Norma’s been part of the Unisson community, living in Supported Independent Living and working at Unisson Works. But her true passion? Cooking meals for her housemates, with love, flavour and just a dash of dramatic flair.

Whether she’s baking something sweet or whipping up her signature pasta, Norma lights up in the kitchen. It’s where she feels strong, confident, and completely herself. Her love for food first sparked at TAFE, where a supportive teacher helped her discover her inner chef and she’s been stirring things up ever since.

Cooking isn’t just a skill for Norma. It’s how she expresses herself, connects with others, and owns her space.

Because being free doesn’t have to be loud or fancy. Sometimes, it’s as simple as feeling proud of the meal you’ve made and knowing you’re the boss of your own kitchen.

Norma is free to be a cook.
Free to be bold.
And absolutely free to be Norma
