Alison Living her Best Life

Alison recently shared her thoughts about her favourite activities and talked about the friendships she has formed over the years through Unisson.

Alison is a long-term client who currently lives in one of our shared living homes and attends both our day programs through our Community Access Hubs and also our Blue Apple Art studios.

She is a huge cricket fan and has visited the Sydney Cricket Ground on several occasions to watch Australia play. Some of her favourite cricketers from the past include Shane Warne, Dennis Lillee and Glen McGrath. She has been able to attend the cricket with the support of Unisson and other friends.

Through the day programs at our Community Access hub Alison has also really enjoyed going to cafes and to the beach. She likes to meet people at the centre, particularly friends which she has known for many years.

At our Blue Apple Art Studios, which Alison attends twice a week, she enjoys learning new skills with our wonderful art facilitators, but especially loves painting and ceramics.

Alison treasures the friendships she has made over the years. One particular friend, Catherine, died back in 2019. She remembers Catherine fondly as good fun to be around and was recently supported to visit her gravesite around the time of Catherine’s birthday. Alison and Catherine’s friendship stretched back decades. Alison recalled that they used to do a lot of activities together and kept in touch when they moved to different shared living homes, catching up regularly in person.

With the relocation of our Community Access hub from Pymble to Lane Cove, Alison has become one of our first clients to enjoy the brand new purpose-built space where, again, she’ll be meeting up with her friends and perhaps making some new ones!
